United Way of Wapello County works locally to create opportunities and envisions thriving communities where residents are educated, have income stability, and lead healthy lives.
Food insecurity continues to be a special focus for United Way of Wapello County. We are working to bring partners together to develop a strategy that will reduce the percentage of children and families in Wapello County who don't have enough nutritious food to eat. United Way and our partners are looking at long-term strategies to prevent food insecurity, while providing short-term programming to address the immediate needs of food insecure families.

For inclusion on the Forbes list, United Way was judged based on the amount of private donations made to the organization by individual donors, corporations, partnerships and other nonprofits. Forbes included United Way as a financial efficiency all-star based on the overall percentage of donations used in program implementation.
