In January of 2015, a collaborative was formed which included the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation, Iowa State University Extension, United Way of Wapello County and Wapello County Foundation. This group came together to discuss ways that they could assist in providing education, training and resources to the nonprofit sector. The idea to develop the Nonprofit Summit was embraced to accomplish these goals. The group is currently asking community members who are affiliated with a non-profit in any way - for example as a staff person, elected official, board member, church or club member or volunteer - to provide essential feedback. In order to develop the best event possible for the nonprofit community, organizers are asking community members involved in nonprofits to fill out a survey by March 15th. The summit will be held at Bridge View in Ottumwa in September of this year.
