The first annual Leadership Now Conference has been scheduled for November 1, 2013 at the Rural Health Education Center, Indian Hills Community College.
Leadership Now is the first annual conference focused on the importance of leadership in our rural region. A joint effort between ActionCOACH Heartland, Indian Hills Community College, Iowa State University Extension, and the Ottumwa Leadership Academy, this conference is open to anyone who has an interest in learning more about leadership.
The planning committee is happy to announce that James Autry, author, consultant, and retired Fortune 500 Executive will be this year’s keynote speaker. His book, Love and Profit, The Art of Caring Leadership, won the prestigious Johnson, Smith and Kinsley Award as the book which contributed the most to executive thinking in 1992.
Before taking early retirement in 1991 to pursue his present career, Autry was Senior Vice President of The Meredith Corporation and President of its Magazine Group. At the time of his retirement, Autry was regarded as one of the most successful and respected magazine publishing executives in America.
Autry lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with his wife, recently retired Lieutenant Governor of Iowa Sally Pederson.
